Expert Discussion „The Importance of Geothermal Energy for Future Power and Heat Supply”

An expert discussion took place on July 7th in the Bavarian State Parliament with the title “The importance of geothermal energy for future power and heat supply” as part of the meeting of the Committee for Economic Affairs, Regional Development, Energy, Media and Digitalization. Dr. Maximilian Keim from the GAB was also invited to the meeting as an expert on the topic of deep geothermal energy. Together with Prof. Rolf Bracke (Fraunhofer IEG), Helge-Uve Braun (SWM), Dr. Erwin Knapek (BVG) and Helmut Mangold (IEP), Mr. Keim shed light on important aspects of the development of deep geothermal energy. Among other things, they discussed an exploration insurance, the expansion of the district heating network and a coordinated master plan for geothermal energy in Bavaria.

We hope that suitable political framework conditions can now be created for a rapid expansion of deep geothermal energy!
