Two GAB Scientists Receive the “Christian Hecht Award 2021”
The GAB congratulates its young scientist Matthäus Irl and the former project participant Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Eyerer on receiving the Christian Hecht Award 2021. Both were awarded for their contributions to “Geothermal Energy in the Bavarian Molasse Basin and Upper Rhine Graben by Young Scientists” at the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern 2021. The jury, consisting of scientists and industry representatives, decided for a tie this year. Mr. Eyerer has experimentally evaluated different working media and a particularly efficient and flexible circuit of the Organic Rankine Cycle for geothermal power-heat systems as part of his dissertation, while Mr. Irl is working on the analysis and optimization of the operation of hydrothermal combined heat and power plants. “The two awardees have many parallels. They are both active at the Geothermal-Alliance Bavaria, which also shows the high scientific standing of this institution,” said Dr. Dietfried Bruss of Stadtwerke München in his laudation.
